Quince & Co

In a word (or more) Quince and Company is the result of one too many “Wouldn’t it be great if…” conversations among three yarnophiles.

“We started as two knitwear designers and an owner of a spinning mill – each of us confessing to a strong bias toward natural fibers, be they soft and sensuous or rustic and sturdy. We also think businesses can be good citizens-should be good citizens-without making too much of a fuss_about it.
So, we’ve created a line of thoughtfully conceived yarns spun from American natural fibers or sourced from overseas suppliers who grow plants, raise animals, or manufacture a yarn in as earth- and labor-friendly way. We think we can have our yarn and knit it, too”.

VK is the Quince & Co. Flagship Store in Spain, featuring all their wool and linen yarns and patterns.

3.5 sts / inch on size US 10.5 [6.5 mm]

Quince and Company Kestrel is a new take on a simple linen yarn. It has a ribbon structure, meaning it’s spun very fine and then knitted into a tube that’s flattened to make a yarn that looks like ribbon. One of the benefits of this flat construction is the way in which it shows off linen’s subtle sheen. It also has amazing drape and fluidity. Like all things linen, woven or knitted, Kestrel only gets better as you wash and wear it.

Soft and skinny is our wispy Tern, a blend of wool and tussah silk. The yarn´s muted palette -think vintage painted photographs- result from the way in which the different fibers absorb dye. The wool portion colors thoroughly, but the silk is barely tinted. It´s good for socks, scarves, mitts, hats and any sweater that loves a little drape.
